Protective Styling! What is it & Why is it important?

Hello My VIP's,

Protective Styling is any style that protects your hair. Well, duh! To be more specific it not only protects but grows your hair. So now that we've talked about what is it. Lets talk about why it's important.

Protective styling is important to retain length. So often we think our hair isn't growing but, it is. I noticed this when I had color in my hair. My color grew out yet, my hair was the same length. What in the world?! I soon realized my issue. I was not retaining. Although my hair was growing at the healthy rate of 1 inch per month, I didn't have the length to show for it.

Since then I have come up with the Keys to Protective Styling.

4 Keys to Protective Styling

1.) Moisturize

Moisturized hair is stronger, hair that is stronger, grows longer. Make sure you adequately moisturize your hair. Moisturizing will be a breeze if you find out you're porosity. *OmiVirginHair.com will help you all with that in October 2019*

2.) Protective Styling that fits your Hairs needs and, not just trends.

If you have thin edges, why are you braiding them? Find styles that fit the state of your hair. While your growing back your edges opt for products that cover rather then pull. A good example of this would be a crochet style with bangs. This leaves you edges in a natural and untouched state, for you to moisture at you leisure. Do not follow trends if your hair line can't keep up. Get your lace frontals installed professionally.

3.) Trimming

Splits ends aid in the loss of hair strands. Trim to promote retention. I personally trim every 4 - 6 weeks no. Ask your licensed hair stylist how often you should trim.

4.) Listening to your hair and scalp.

If it hurts, take it out. Do not wait for it to loosen up. It will loosen up, and you will LOSE SOME of your hair. No protective style should ever hurt. If your scalp itches horribly, take it out. You may be allergic to the coating that most store brought hair has. If you have to pat it a couple of times a day. A good anti itch oil can and will do the trick.
