In Hair Dictionary Blogs we will explain key terms for our next subject matter. This is done in hopes that we are able to better explain the topics we are speaking of. If you need a deeper understanding watch this video!
#1 – Low Volume Developer
This needs to be broken down into two parts.
1a. Developer: An oxidant cream product containing hydrogen peroxide. Think of this as an activator.
1b. Low Volume Developer: Allows for hair color to sit on the hair cuticle with little penetration, if any.
Example: 10 volume developer
#2 Lift
The chemical process of lightening the hair
#3 Deposit
Does not lift only adds color. Deposit only colors are Semi and Demi Permanent Dye
#4 Translucent
Incomplete coverage
#5 Oxidation
When an unstable atom loses an electron. This allows the atom to form a new compound with another element. When oxidation occurs large flakes of pigment are created which form the final permanent dyes within the cortex. Watch the video linked at the beginning of this article for a deeper explanation.
